New Halloween Trend Exposed: Raunchy Costumes for Little Girls

Hat tip to The Maury Show (never thought I would hear myself say that) for this little number.

It seems there's a new trend going about across the country that puts everyone who engages in it in grave danger.  What is it, you ask?  Setting jack o' lanterns on fire?  Live actors doing hanging scenes in haunted houses?  Black cats running around giving people bad luck? (wait, what?)

Nope, it's a trend of 10 and even 9 year old girls wearing "sexy" costumes trick or treating.

One word:  disgusting

Girls as young as nine are wearing costumes featuring short skirts and tight clothing.  One costume, a pirate girl, features a short miniskirt with tight leather boots and a midriff baring shirt.  French maids, tight "Wonder Woman" type outfits and others round out this symphony of perversity.

Nevermind the fact that wearing such things is immoral in and of itself (especially for a child), costumes such as these make children the perfect target for sexual predators; highly sexualized children that are both innocent and provocative.

Plug "sexy kids costumes" into a Google images search to see this disgusting trend in all it's unalloyed perversity, though I advise against it.  WARNING:  VIEWING THESE IMAGES CAN HAVE A DIMINISHING EFFECT ON YOUR FAITH IN HUMANITY!

Parents, please be responsible.  Do not buy or allow your child to wear these horrible costumes.  There are other, more moral and decent costumes for your children to wear trick or treating.  Please, choose one of them.

I will be praying this trend stops and quick.

The Feast of St. Simon and Jude

From "The Liturgy of the Hours:  Volume IV".

The name of Saint Simon usually appears eleventh in the list of the apostles.  Nothing is know of him except that he was born at Cana and is surnamed "The Zealot".
St. Simon is one of the twelve apostles.  His patronage is curriers, sawyers and tanners.

Saint Jude, also called Thaddeus, was the apostle who asked the Lord at the Last Supper why he had manifested himself only to his apostles and not to the whole world (John 14:22)
St. Jude is one of the twelve apostles.  He is best known as the patron of hopeless causes, but he is also the patron of Armenia, hospitals, the Chicago Police Department, and others.

Prayer
Father,
you revealed yourself to us through the preaching of your apostles Simon and Jude.  By their prayers, give your Church continued growth, an increase the number of those who believe in you.

We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, who lives and rains with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.  Amen.*

Georgetown University Law Professor: Gay Sex is "Morally Good"

(CNSNews.com) – Chai R. Feldblum, nominated by President Barack Obama to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), has argued that homosexual sex is “morally good” and that government should foster all types of domestic partnerships, including “non-sexual” ones.

At a UCLA law school symposium in 2004, Feldblum said that homosexual activists need to do more than just pursue equality for same-sex relationships because advancing the homosexual agenda also “requires a statement that gay sex is morally good.”

“Now, you may think that might be a little crazy to go out there and say, ‘Gay sex is good.’ But think about it for a second. Society definitely believes that heterosexual sex is good, right? Heterosexual sex within a certain framework--marriage--I mean you can’t get more dewy-eyed and romantic in this society about how wonderful that is,” Feldblum told the University of California at Los Angeles audience.
You're kidding me, right?

Whatever happened to gay sex being "intrinsically disordered" (CCC 2357) and an "abomination" (Leviticus 18:22).  And this woman is a Georgetown University law professor, a Catholic institution.

Yet another example of the slow death of Catholic higher education in this country.

Judge Sentences Rifqa Bary to Death

Link

A Florida Judge sentenced 17 year-old Rifqa Bary to death Tuesday when he ruled that she must be returned to the custody of her parents.  Rifqa fled home amid death threats from her parents for converting from Islam to Christianity.

I hate reporting on tragedies in this blog, but I have no choice here.  What has happened here is nothing less than sending the girl straight into a death trap.  How can I say this?  Well, Islamic law flat out states that apostates from Islam must be killed.  Look up the hadiths online and you will find this.  It is not that hard.

The phenomenon of "honor killings" is not just some right-wing anti-Muslim invention.  It is a real fact of life in the Muslim world and, increasingly, here in the West.  I will lay out a few examples.

- On January 1, 2008, 18 year old Amina Said and 17 year old Sarah Said were murdered by their father, Yasser Said, after he discovered that the two had boyfriends.  He fled shortly thereafter and remains at large.  This was right here in the United States

- On December 10, 1991, a 16 year old girl named Aqsa Parvez was strangled to death by her father, her shortly thereafter called police to turn himself in.  Her crime?  She refused to wear the hijab, the traditional Muslim headscarf.  Location?  Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

- In 2005, the German newsweekly Der Spiegel reported that "In the past four months, six Muslim women living in Berlin have been brutally murdered by family members"; a particularly prominent case was that of Hatun Sürücü, who was murdered by her brother after she divorced the cousin she had been forced to marry at 16 and reportedly began dating a German man.

- In March 2009, Turkish immigrant Gülsüm S. was killed by her family when they discovered she was in a relationship outside their plan for an arranged marriage.

- In 2002, London native Heshu Yones was stabbed to death by her father.  Her family had heard a love song dedicated to her and suspected she had a boyfriend.

These are just a few examples of honor killings.  Rifqa Bary didn't have a boyfriend, but she did do something that's considered even worse than that by Islamic law; she left Islam for another religion.  The Florida judge has made an error that puts her life in danger by this ruling.  May God forgive him.

We must pray for Rifqa.  Pray that this ruling will be reversed and that she will be allowed to live her life in peace so that she may follow the Lord, free to worship him without fear all the days of her life (reference Luke 1:74)

Overboard Much?

http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/33289924/ns/today-today_people/?GT1=43001

My girlfriend showed me this little number on MSNBC today.

A six year old was suspended from school and later sent to a reform school with genuine juvenile delinquents fo 45 days... because he brought a camping utensil to school to eat his lunch with.  It was his favorite and he always ate his meals with it.

Apparently, the school decided this innocuous little device was a "weapon" and therefore the boy was now a threat to school safety and dropped the hammer on him by tossing him in with gang bangers and other miscreants over a what amounts to a simple mistake.

Was bringing it to school against the rules?  Yes, and there should be consequences.  But I think mercy applies in this case.  The boy, from what I can gather, had never been in trouble at school before, and he certainly wasn't violent or had violent intentions.  He just wanted to eat lunch with his favorite little tool.  The school should have handled this in a much more merciful manner so he knows not to make the same mistake twice.  It's as simple as that.

I think this case illustrates the failure of so called "zero-tolerance" policies across the nation.  These policies are overly broad and loose in their definitions of "weapons", and almost never take into account intent, character and disciplinary history, among other things.  Often, students who have been punished under these policies carry the black mark with them for the rest of their lives, since they'll often end up on the student's permanent record.  The consequences of this?  Colleges may deny applications, employers may refuse to hire them, etc.  Not an optimistic outlook.

I think it's high time to seriously reevaluate the merits of these policies.  Sound off in the comments section.

A Short Prayer for Life

In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritui Sancti.  Amen

O Heavenly Father, from whom springs forth all life.  I humbly pray to you to have mercy on our nation though it allows the killing of thousands of innocent lives in the womb.   I ask you to soften the hearts of those who so recklessly promote the evil policy of abortion, and empower them to seek to protect the innocent unborn in a truly just society, and to comfort those in crisis pregnancies and be their help to choose life.  Amen

O Lord Jesus Christ, our Divine Redeemer and Savior, from your wounded heart flowed blood and water, which represented the life you gave us by your sacrifice on the cross.  Pour out your tender mercy upon those who promote and defend abortion, and be their guide to show them the truth of their actions, that they may promote life in their lives.  Amen.

O Holy Spirit, the Paraclete, advocate and guide, source of all piety and conviction, infuse within the hearts of men the grace to defend life at all stages.  You spoke through the prophets, now I ask you to speak through the pro-life activists and they fight to end the scourge of abortion.  May only truth ever cross their lips.  Amen.

1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary, 1 Glory Be
