WOC throws a nutty over female altar servers

Father Z's blog at wdtprs.com brings us this latest hissy fit from the dissenters at Women's Ordination Conference, this time over the decision of the Phoenix diocese to only allow male altar servers at it's cathedral.

Father Z's commentary is preserved because, frankly, it's hilarious.

Women’s Ordination Conference Decries [A high dudgeon word if ever there was one.] Ban on Altar Girls in Pheonix Diocese [No... really.  Pheonix, who was, I believe both one of their large puppets as well as a character with mottled skin in a Star Trek series.]
WASHINGTON, DC – August 22, 2011 – Girls will no longer be allowed to serve as altar servers during Mass at the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix, SS. Simon and Jude. In response, Women’s Ordination Conference has issued an action alert [aaahWOOOOgah!] calling on the Diocese to immediately reinstate female altar servers in that parish.  [More on this, below.]
“If young women in the Phoenix diocese want to grow up to work for the Church – or even aspire to the priesthood [not gonna happen] – I, and the vast majority of U.S. Catholics, don’t see the harm in that, said Erin Saiz Hanna, executive director of the Women’s Ordination Conference. [Because in the Catholic Church doctrine is determined by the number of people who believe something.] “Around the country, young women have been lawfully serving at the altar for well over a decade.” [More on this below.]
Reportedly, Rev. Lankeit banned girls from the altar because he wants only boys to prepare for priesthood in this way. [Hold on there.  That is an assumption.  Are they working from the newspaper article or did anyone from COW call the rector of the cathedral and ask him?  It could be that he is also trying to follow what the Holy See said was the "preferable" practice.  It is still permitted to obey Rome, no?] Since 1994, the Vatican and the U.S. Bishops have allowed female altar servers. There is no restriction in Canon Law for women to help at the altar during the liturgy.  [And there is no right, either.  There is, however, a tradition and clearly expressed preference in the Holy See's documents on the matter.]
“This is not only disgraceful, it is impractical. Women comprise at least 80 per cent of church lay ministers, and they are backbone of most parishes around the world,” continued Hanna. [Oh my!  What is WOC going to do about the manifest discrimination against men filling these roles?  JUSTICE! we must cry, JUSTICE!]
“The Vatican’s stance on the ordination of women is based on arguments that have been refuted time and again. [Refuted?  Because WOC says so?  Pfffft.] In 1976, the Vatican’s own Pontifical Biblical Commission determined that there is no scriptural reason to prohibit women’s ordination.  [And there is no scriptural prohibition against slavery either.  We can, in WOC-logic both ordain women and also enslave them.] Jesus included women as full and equal partners in his ministry, [ROLF! One of the dumbest things I have read in a looooong time.  Hanna, read this carefully.  NOBODY was Jesus "full and equal partner in His ministry".  Jesus was Master and Lord.  The greatest man born of women, John the Baptist, said he wasn't worthy to untie the Lord's sandal.  The Mother of God said to listen to and obey her Son.  The Apostles themselves had a hierarchy within their ranks and they only did what they did in Jesus' Name.  Priests today are partners and collaborators with the bishops, but they are not exactly "full and equal" partners of the bishops.  They have different roles.] and the hierarchy would do well to follow suit,” Hanna concluded.

So let's recap; the WOC, who are already bad enough for advocating the impossible (women's "ordination") and conducting fake ordinations of wymyn in defiance of Church authority, presume to lecture the Phoenix diocese on what to do with it's cathedral church.  They ignore that it has been a long-standing tradition of using only males for altar servers, instead screaming "SEXISM!  *sad face*.

Someone needs to remind these women what it really means to be Catholic.  That means you are obedient to the Church in all matters of doctrine (including on the matter of women's ordination, as it is doctrine, not discipline, that women may not be ordained to the priesthood, not now, not ever), and you don't presume to lecture the bishop on every single matter just because you feel you can.

'I am convinced in my heart that it is God's will that we should have women priests … I feel prompted by the Holy Spirit to share my position publicly, and yet very reluctantly,'' the sermon said, according to a report on the Web site theage.com.au. ''I believe certain women are being called by God to the ministerial priesthood, and our official church is obstructing the work of the Holy Spirit. I feel I can no longer sit back and remain silent.''
He conceded that as ''an insignificant little parish priest'' he lacked the profound theological training to contradict papal teaching, ''but some things you just know in your heart, in the core of your being''.

Rubbish.

A spade needs to be called a spade, so that's what I'm going to do.  This priest is preaching heresy and needs to be disciplined.

London buses to carry female ordination advert during pope's visit

Catholic group's initiative will see the slogan 'Pope Benedict Ordain Women Now' appear on 10 buses throughout September

The group has paid around £10,000 for posters to appear on 10 buses for a month from August 30

In a move designed to coincide with the pope's visit to Britain in September, London buses are to carry posters calling for the ordination of women.
The initiative, from the UK group Catholic Women's Ordination (CWO), will see buses carrying the slogan "Pope Benedict Ordain Women Now".
According to the weekly Catholic magazine the Tablet, CWO has paid about £10,000 for the posters to appear on 10 buses for a month from August 30.
The pope will be in the UK from September 16, spending two days in the capital, and the posters will appear on routes that go past Westminster Cathedral and Westminster Hall. Both venues feature on the papal itinerary.
Last Thursday the Vatican issued sweeping changes to its laws on sexual abuse, extending the period in which charges can be filed against priests in church courts and broadening the use of fast-track procedures to defrock them. But while the document dealt mostly with paedophilia, it also stated that the "attempted ordination of a woman" to the priesthood was one of the most serious crimes in church law.
The mention of both issues in the same breath caused anger within some groups, especially those in favour of women priests, and prompted a Vatican official to clarify its position, saying the crimes were of a different nature and gravity.
The outcry boosted interest in the movement for female Catholic priests, with CWO receiving donations and dozens of membership inquiries.
One member, Pat Brown, said a press conference would be held during the papal visit at which the group would make its case for ordaining women.
"We love the church and don't want to be disruptive. We are trying to get support and would love to have five minutes with the pope. We are very concerned about what is going on in the church at the moment."
Buses have become the preferred vehicle for believers and nonbelievers to promote their cause to the wider public. The trend started in January 2009, when a group of atheists arranged for an "upbeat and positive" message to counter slogans of hellfire and damnation from some churches.
Organisers exceeded their modest £5,500 fundraising target, receiving more than £150,000, and their success encouraged atheist and humanist groups around the world to carry out similar campaigns.
The advert, the idea of writer Ariane Sherine, bore the words "There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life". It was one of the top 10 most complained about adverts of that year.
A parody advert soon followed from the Christian Party, which claimed: "There definitely is a God. So join the Christian Party and enjoy your life".
It drew 1,045 objections, making it the fourth most complained about advert since records at the Advertising Standards Authority began.

CWO needs to reread Ordinatio Sacerdotalis and realize that women cannot, will not, and never will be ordained to the priesthood.  That's the simple reality of it.
