Why is transsexuality a bad thing?

The answer is pretty simple.

And God created man to his own image: to the image of God he created him: male and female he created them.  (Genesis 1:27)
He created them male and female; and blessed them: and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.  (Genesis 5:2)

It's pretty clear; God created men to be men, and women to be women.  That's the end of it.

And before you accuse me of hate, I don't hate anyone.  I'm simply stating a truth.

L&O made me think

I've currently got an episode of Law & Order: SVU playing on TV and the premise really makes me squeamish.

The story surrounds a man who raped an 11 year old girl and brainwashed her into thinking the rape was a "normal" sexual relationship (nothing normal about it, you freak).  His defense?  Society is persecuting him for having sexual attraction to children, arguing he's no different than an interracial couple.

What's making me squeamish is that it's not just TV drama.  There are actual people who advocate adults having sex with children.  Ever hear of NAMBLA?  If you haven't, research.  Pro-pedophile folks do exist.

Parents, be your guard.  If your children are in a relationship, ask all the questions.  There are indeed freaks and perverts out there.  The chances of this happening are very small, but protecting your kids is worth it.

LSN Roundup

April 26, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – On Tuesday morning the Oklahoma Senate overrode Governor Brad Henry's veto of two pieces of legislation that put restrictions on abortion in the state.
House Bill 2780 will require that women be given an ultrasound within an hour of a scheduled abortion and that the ultrasound technician explain the results of the scan to the mothers.
House Bill 2656 would prohibit the type of “wrongful life” lawsuits that have become increasingly common in the West, in which women sue their doctor after their child is born with an abnormality that the mother says would have led her to have the child killed through abortion, if she had known about it.
The governor had vetoed both of the bills on Friday, before the House overrode the move on Monday. Now that the Senate has followed suit, both bills have become law.

FRESNO, California, April 26, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A suspended gay activist Fresno priest has expressed dismay over the pope's appointment of Archbishop José Gomez to head the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in place of Cardinal Roger Mahony.
California Catholic Daily last week highlighted Rev. Geoffrey Farrow's April 17 blog post referring to Gomez's appointment: "What does this mean for the future of the Catholic Church in Los Angeles and California? It means a sharp thrust to the right."
Rev. Farrow was suspended from the priesthood in 2008 when he declared himself an open homosexual and urged his congregation to vote against Proposition 8, the state constitutional amendment enshrining marriage as between one man and one woman.

Exactly, and that means that Catholics in the L.A. Archdiocese will actually get a healthy dose of Catholic truth, rather than the watered down stuff that so characterizes catechesis in the post-Vatican II era.

April 26, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Loyola Marymount University, a Jesuit institution in Los Angeles, has announced that Deval Patrick, the current governor of Massachusetts, and Marlene Canter, former member of the Los Angeles Unified School District board, will be speaking at their 2010 commencement; both are on record as being in favor of abortion and homosexual “marriage.”
Deval Patrick, who served as Assistant Attorney General during the Clinton administration, worked to prevent a referendum eliminating same-sex “marriage” from coming before the people while governor of Massachusetts.  His campaign website boasts that he "helped lead the fight to keep discrimination out of the Massachusetts constitution and preserved the right of same-sex couples to marry in Massachusetts."
In 2007 he signed a bubble-zone measure that prohibited pro-life counselors from coming closer to abortion clinics than thirty-five feet.

As if Notre Dame doing it was bad... actually, Notre Dame was worse because it's the premier Catholic university in the U.S.  John Cardinal Newman, pray for us.

Speaking of Notre Dame...

CHICAGO, April 26, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In a major ruling that may prove decisive for the defense of pro-lifers arrested on Notre Dame's campus last year, an Indiana Judge has lifted a stay order barring the lead defense attorney in the cases from pursuing discovery of crucial evidence from Notre Dame officials.
St. Joseph County, Superior Court Chief Judge Michael P. Scopelitis has authorized Thomas More Society-allied attorney Tom Dixon to pursue testimony under oath from officials who were key decision makers in the arrest of the Notre Dame 88 (ND88). It will also allow him to subpoena documents that may shed light on the college's apparent inconsistency regarding the arrest and prosecution of other groups and individuals participating in similar on-campus events.

For this, we thank thee, O Lord.

British attempt at humor fail

The astonishing proposals, leaked to The Sunday Telegraph, were contained in secret papers drawn up earlier this month by civil servants following a ‘brainstorm’.

The ideas, included in a memo headed ‘The ideal visit would see …’, ridiculed the Catholic Church’s teachings including its opposition to abortion, homosexual behaviour and contraception. Many appeared to be deliberately provocative rather than a serious attempt to plan an itinerary for the September visit.

The proposals, which were then circulated among key officials in Downing Street and Whitehall, also include the Pope opening an abortion ward; spending the night in a council flat in Bradford; doing forward rolls with children to promote healthy living; and even performing a duet with the Queen.
Ah, that classic British wit.... not.

Well, this is an annoying way to start the morning

For as long as I can remember, there's been something living under our deck. We could hear it shuffling around, and our dogs would periodically sniff around trying to find it. Well, this morning we think we might have figured out what it is.

A mama opossum. With at least three babies.

How did we find it? My dogs cornered it behind our air conditioning unit and tried to get it, cuz they both apparently have the intelligence of a cumquat.

Seriously, my mom yells at me to come outside and all I hear is Harley and Gretchen barking, mom screaming frantically at Harley so much you'd think he was playing on the train tracks with a Norfolk Southern locomotive bearing down on him, and more hissing and spitting than a PMSing cat.

Needless to say, we were both ticked as heck at the stupid mutts.

They're so not getting pet today.

Pouillion murderer sentenced to life in prison

Harlan Drake, the truck driver who shot and killed pro-life activist James Pouillon and local gravel pit owner Mike Fuoss, has been sentenced to life in prison. The sentence was handed down by Circuit Judge Gerald D. Lostracco on Thursday. According to the Flint Journal, the judge told Drake that, “As you go off to prison today, you’re certainly no hero in anyone’s book.”
Drake shot and killed Pouillon on September 11, 2009, as the pro-life grandfather stood outside of the Owosso High School, holding a sign with the picture of a child and the word “Life” on one side, and a picture of an aborted baby on the other.
Drake stated during the trial that he specifically targeted Pouillon for his pro-life activities, and that he only decided to kill Fuoss, a former employer against whom he had a grudge, after shooting Pouillon and realizing that he
Justice has been served.  That is all.

Is there a double standard at Notre Dame?

No doubt many of you already know about the scandal that engulfed Notre Dame last year when they invited pro-abortion President Barack Obama to speak at their commencement.  Some of you probably also know how 88 pro-life protestors who were opposing the presence of the most pro-abortion president in the history of this country were arrested for trespassing.

The University has so far not responded to calls for them to try and get the pro-lifers released.  And now there's a new story emerging from the campus.

Recently, the pro-homosexuality group Soulforce (a nominally Christian group which promotes homosexuality as a valid alternative lifestyle) and anti-ROTC protestors from the Catholic Worker group (Dorothy Day may be a saintly woman, but her strict pacifist stance is unrealistic) protested and were also arrested for trespass.  What happened to them?  Well, read on, courtesty of Life Site News.
It turns out that members of the pro-gay group Soulforce, and Catholic Worker anti-ROTC demonstrators, who were arrested for trespassing on campus in March 2007, were let off scot free. Dempsey says that he interviewed participants in each case, who "all state that, after they were taken into custody and processed on the campus, they were released and heard nothing more." It is unclear whether the decision not to pursue the cases further was made by the university or the district prosecutors, although the Trust suggests that it originated with the university.
According to the report, the anti-military and pro-gay protestors had their charges dropped almost as soon as they were booked.  Yet the pro-life protestors who were demanding the Our Lady's University uphold Catholic teaching on abortion by disinviting a man who's view on abortion contradict everything we as Catholics believe remain behind bars?

There's something wrong with this picture.

Is there a double standard at Notre Dame?  I would say yes.  The University, by allowing charges to be dropped against this group of protestors (one of which, Soulforce, holds to a fundamentally anti-Catholic viewpoint) but refusing to do they same with pro-lifers demonstrates a fundamental hypocrisy.  The University is, in effect, saying that one group of trespassers will be treated with kid gloves, while another is treated like common criminals, because of their viewpoint.

I encourage everyone who reads this post to contact Notre Dame's president, Father Jenkins, and register, charitably of course, their disapproval of this travesty.
