News Roundup: December 29th, 2011

Pro-Life Edition.

Rockefeller Foundation Pushes Legalized Abortion in Uruguay (LifeNews.com)

The Rockefeller Foundation is pushing the small South American nation of Uruguay, where women and unborn children enjoy legal protection, to legalize abortion. New legislation the nation is considering — it has defeated previous attempts to make abortion legal — would legalize abortions within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Let me see if I get this straight; it's "cultural imperialism" for a McDonald's to open in France, but an American organization pushing a third world country to legalize abortion is not anything like that?  Please tell me I'm not the only one that sees the hypocrisy here.  Uruguay, don't let them get to you!  Keep the murder of the unborn illegal in your country!  Prayers will be offered.

Irish pro-life youth use stunning imagery of unborn child in Christmas message (LifeSiteNews)

The Irish pro-life organization Youth Defense has created a powerful Christmas video that features stunning imagery of the unborn child in the womb.
“The wonder of life. Part of the Christmas story and every human story since life began,” says a narrator as the camera leaves the womb and shows the child Jesus in the manger. “The gift of life. Protect it. Cherish it.
“Happy Christmas.”

It's good to see this coming out of a country that, sadly, is abandoning its Catholic identity and beginning to embrace the type of secularist insanity that has been engulfing the US.  What a way to remind everyone how precious the gift of life is.  ACIVB kudos to these young Irish.

Pregnant and poor at the Inn: how one pro-life home is giving pregnant women hope (LifeSiteNews)

Danielle Inn, located in Covington, Louisiana, is a “home of hope for the unwed expectant mother.” The Inn sees its mission as providing a “Christ-centered home to support and minister to the spiritual, physical, educational and emotional needs of pregnant, single/estranged, young women.”
A perfect rebuttal to the pro-abortion lie that abortion is the only hope for a poor woman facing an unexpected pregnancy.  God bless Danielle Inn.

Another OWS horror show; hacker group posts the information of police officers online

As if we needed another reminder of just how dangerous it is to be a cop in this day and age, they now have to deal with this latest outrage by the hacker collective Anonymous.  The group, according to The Washington Times, stole the personal information, including e-mail and physical addresses, of police officers involved in evicting the Occupy squatter camps from public property.

Computer hackers are avenging the Occupy movement by exposing the personal information of police officers who evicted protesters and threatening family-values advocates who led a boycott of an American Muslim television show.
In three Internet postings last week, hackers from the loose online coalition called Anonymous published the email and physical addresses, phone numbers and, in some cases, salary details of thousands of law enforcement officers all over the country.
The hackers said they were retaliating for police violence during evictions of Occupy protest camps in cities around the country, but law enforcement advocates slammed the disclosures as dangerous.
Does this "movement" have any shame?  Do these guys have any idea what they are doing?  I suspect they do, or else they wouldn't have done this.

If any officers are harmed as a result of this, it's going to be on the head of every single member of that group of collective.  Every.  Single.  One.

Pray that SOMEONE among them gets the courage to step and say "this was wrong".

News Roundup: December 9th, 2011

The return of News Roundup!  Enjoy!

Officials at Smithfield Foods Inc. have reinstated a self-imposed deadline to get rid of all gestation crates for pregnant sows on its farms by 2017, its president and CEO said Thursday.

I've never quite understood the whole hoopla, but if it will be kinder to the animals, good for Smithfield.  Also, they say happier animals produce better meat, so that's always welcome, better products that is.

Reps. Peter T. King of New York and Steven C. LaTourette of Ohio, as well as Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and former Sen. Jim Talent of Missouri, are among the Republican lawmakers who worked with Mr. Gingrich and now warn that he lacks the leadership skills and discipline needed to be a reliable president.

Newt has always struck me in recent years as the typical career politician.  That, in addition to his public divorce and remarriage and the alleged ethics violations he had while in Congress have turned me off to his candidacy, unless I have no other choice (no way in heck am I giving Obama another four years).

McDonnell proposes shifting more tax dollars to highway, bridge repair (The Washington Examiner)

McDonnell's proposal would increase the percentage of state sales tax dedicated to transportation from 0.5 percent to 0.75 percent over the next eight years, an increase that the governor predicts will add $110 million to transportation coffers.

The roads in Virginia, as much as I love my state, have sadly been neglected and are in desperate need of repair.  If Governor McDonnell can find a way to do this without raising taxes, good for him.  With all the fiscal success he's had so far in Virginia, I have little doubt he can succeed in this endeavor.  I wish him the best of luck.

Horrible: OWS Mob in London Defecating INSIDE St. Paul's Cathedral

As if I needed another reason NOT to support the ridiculous and frankly communistic "Occupy Wall Street" global mob action, here comes another one from London, the capital of a once magnificent Britain.

The St Paul’s Cathedral protest camp has become littered with human waste and graffiti, while alcohol and drug use are rife, according to legal documents filed by the City of London.
The Corporation, which is taking legal action to evict the protesters, highlighted the filthy conditions ahead of the court battle which is due to start this week.
Parts of the dossier come from registrar of St Paul’s, Nicholas Cottam, who wrote to a corporation official outlining the disruptions faced by the cathedral.
Mr Cottam wrote: ‘Desecration: – graffiti have been scratched and painted on to the great west doors of the cathedral, the chapter house door and most notably a sacrilegious message painted on the restored pillars of the west portico.
‘Human defecation has occurred in the west portico entrance and inside the cathedral on several occasions.’
He also made reference to noisy interruptions during services, foul language directed at staff and the use of alcohol and ‘other stimulants’ that appeared to ‘fuel the noise levels day and night’.
Mr Cottam revealed more than half of schools scheduled to visit the cathedral had cancelled since the occupation began on October 15. He wrote: ‘The reason for the cancellations is directly as a result of their own risk assessments which that the view that entry and exit to the cathedral is in their opinion too difficult due to the camp’s presence.’
Drop-in visitor numbers were also down by half, leaving the cathedral’s cafe, shop and restaurant ‘faltering’.  Unchained dogs roam freely on the site, fouling the area, as litter including cigarettes and beer cans pile up, the report says.
A further witness statement from temporary police inspector John Zuber expressed ‘mounting concern of drugs within the camp’ including the arrest of a man in possession of ‘what is currently believed to be a liquid class A drug’.
He added: ‘A camp member handed police drug paraphernalia, which included needles and residue of drugs which they found around the tents. The camp has made a request for an official sharps container for needles to be put into.’
Joy Hollister, the director of community and children’s services for the Corporation, provided a witness statement raising concerns about the growing numbers of ‘vulnerable’ people at the camp.
She said: ‘By which I mean people who were exhibiting behaviour that was indicative of poor mental health, people who were exhibiting signs of drug use including stumbling and compulsive behaviour, people who had body odor arising from significant periods without washing or change of clothing and a number of people who were clearly under the influence of drugs and alcohol.’
She added she had observed a ‘very strong smell of cannabis in several parts of the camp’ and the presence of several children in the camp – two of whom appear to be living there.

For the record, "Class A drugs" appear to be the equivalent designation to Schedule I in the US.

How much longer are we going to have to put up with this?  This global mob has no respect for our faith or for our houses of worship.  The anti-Christian sentiment is palpable with these people, what with OWSers in Rome desecrating a Catholic chapel to these London goons defecating and desecrating St. Paul's, one of the oldest churches in Britain.  I can't say I'm surprised this is happening, given that the whole movement is influenced by atheistic Marxist ideology which disdains religion as part of the problem, and seeks it's destruction.

Christians should not lend their support to this movment.  It is UNWORTHY of our support.  What we should be doing is praying that they will convert to Catholic Christianity and abandon this horrid movment.

Allow me to engage in a tiny bit of alumni pride

News coming out of Chicago says that my college alma mater, University of Virginia at Wise, has won the 2011 GEICO Play of the Year.

Chicago, IL - The University of Virginia's College at Wise's punt return and lateral as time expired to beat Emory & Henry was named the 2011 GEICO Play of the Year, Intersport announced today on CBS Sports during GEICO Presents Best of College Football 2011.
Throughout the college football season, fans voted on Facebook (www.facebook.com/BestofCollegeFootball) to determine which plays reigned supreme. After more than 300,000 votes were tallied to determine the finalists, a group of CBS Sports college football experts named the Cavaliers' return the 2011 GEICO Play of the Year for its degree of difficulty, game-winning implication, and crowd excitement.

It's about time my old little podunk college got some national recognition, even if it is in sports.

Jake Plummer thinks Tim Tebow is too religious

http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/msn/jake_plummer_wishes_tim_tebow_would_shut_up_go_hug_his_teammates_instead_of_publicizing_religion/8244544

So Mr. Plummer seems to think Tim Tebow (who, by the way, did much better than Plummer in his starts), should just "shut up" and not be open about his faith?

May I ask, since when were you in any position to comment?  Mr. Tebow has every right to be open about his faith in the public square.  Christianity BELONGS in the public square, no matter what every single atheist "activist" group will tell you.

Apparently, the only thing that matters in the NFL to some is selfishness, ego, and hedonism, just like in modern society.  Can't have any of that pesky faith  in public now, can we?  Gotta keep it all in the churches where we don't have to look at those stupid Christians.

Give me a break!

LSN: Massachusetts passes bill making transgenderism/crossdressing a protected class

And I'm considering moving to this bluest of blue state?

BOSTON, November 17, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Massachusetts legislature has passed a bill that elevates cross-dressing or transgendered individuals to a protected class, and grants universal access to sex-segregated areas such as bathrooms based on personal “gender identity or expression.”
The measure, known as the “Transgender Equal Rights Bill” (H. 502 in the House and S. 764 in the Senate) passed the upper chamber on Wednesday in a voice vote. It’s unclear when the bill will receive final approval votes and be signed into law by Democrat Gov. Deval Patrick, a strong gay rights supporter.
The bill inserts “gender identity” as a protected class under the state’s hate crime law, and also makes it so that a school or other business would be violating the law if it rejected an applicant because he or she was a crossdresser.
So, the good folks running the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are recognizing sexual "identity" (sexual identity DISORDER)?  That's bad in and of itself, but there's many more bad things that are going to come about because of this.

Do folks seriously even contemplate the potentially devestating effects that this bill presents?  Now all a pervert has to do is dress in woman's clothing to be able to sneak into a women's restroom and commit a sex offense, and security cannot stop him because all he would have to do is claim that he has the right as a "transgender person" to do so.  Laws like this put young girls in danger!

But the liberals who run the blue states have learned long ago not to let stuff like that get in the way of advancing the LGBT agenda.  Their lawyers wouldn't allow them to.

How much longer is this insanity going to go on?

LSN commenters blame Jews for abortion...

I was reading an article on Life Site News about a number of disabled Israeli children suing for having never been aborted (more on that horror later) when a couple of comments on the article caught  my attention.

First, one that appears to blame the Jewish religion for abortion, especially partial birth abortion.

MichaelL, you bring up issues that are of fundamental importance.  It is not only moral evil that is the problem, but intellectual error.  Actually, I think that you are being too generous with the 40 day figure in Judaism.  For instance, for many in Talmudic Judaism, “personhood” begins when the baby’s head emerges from the womb.  America’s legal framework for abortion is largely Jewish, with the practice of “partial-birth” [i.e., head still in the womb] abortion being the most striking indicator.I have posted this article in other comments previously, but people need to read this:  catholicintl.com/index.php/latest-news/573-the-jewish-roots-and-the-catholic-failure-on-abortion
I don't think I'd be the first to say that that sounds like something a poster at Stormfront.org might post, allowing his fellow neandertahls to get their anti-Semitic rage rants in for the day (no to suggest the poster is a neo-Nazi or agrees or sympathizes with them).

Naturally, his comment was criticized.

Why am I not surprised that a character with a name like “Groebner” is posting anti-Jewish screeds? What is this—1940, for heaven’s sake? What’s next? “Sieg heil”?? Back under your rock, buster.
Lose the anti-Semitism, folks.

Ok, I admit that the mention of his name could be taken as a slight against Germans, but that's not the point.  Later, another commenter comes in to defend the OP.

By Bob “Why am I not surprised that a character with a name like “Groebner” is posting anti-Jewish screeds? What is this—1940, for heaven’s sake? What’s next? “Sieg heil”?? Back under your rock, buster.Lose the anti-Semitism, folks.”
Really? You don’t see your own biased reacting here??? Stating facts isn’t anti anything! I didn’t see one word of hate or “antisemitism” in his post or the subsequent article he linked to. Climb out from your rock of political correctness smile

I'm sorry my friends, but his comment did ring of anti-Semitism, whether intended or not, and I didn't read the article the OP linked to, but I'm sure it's filled with similar comments.

Blaming Jews or "Jewish influence" for societal ills (and abortion is the biggest one) is something the Nazis excelled at, and if they were around today, they would probably applaud things like this.  No one group of people is to blame for the scourge of abortion becoming acceptable except for the Supreme Court which made it a "right" in 1974.  Canards like the one above will do nothing to stop it.

ICC: Islamists deliberately targeted Christians in deadly Nigerian attack

Another horror story coming from out of the Islamic world.  Yet more proof that Islam is far from the "Religion of Peace".

International Christian Concern (ICC) has discovered that the Nigerian Islamist group, Boko Haram, deliberately targeted Christians during a series of deadly bombings and killings in the northern Nigerian city of Damaturu.  According to the group, the terrorists responsible for the attacks asked their victims if they were Christian or Muslim, and if they answered that they were Christian, they were killed.

And yet the international press is painting this as an attack on the police force.  In a typical move for the MSM, they avoid mentioning this infomation, along with the fact that the majority of the 150 victims are Christian, and that 11 churches were bombed.  Why, if this is not anti-Christian violence, did Boko Haram not target police stations, instead of churches?  I suspect they would not have an answer, as it would force them to admit that maybe Islamic teachings calling for war and the death of non-Muslims play a role in the savage violence by Muslim groups.

But I'm not holding my breath.  We've been told the lie that all religions are equal too long, and some are completely unwilling to let it go.  As the old saying goes, I learned all I needed to know about Islam on 9/11.

Holy Lord, protect your persecuted Church on Earth!

Virginian-Pilot: Newport News man accused of cruelty, injury to child

Oh my gosh, when I read stories like this it breaks my heart.
NEWPORT NEWS

A 24-year-old man was charged with cruelty and injury to a child after police were called to Sentara Port Warwick’s emergency department for a report of possible child abuse.
About 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Newport News police were called to check on a 4-year-old boy who had been brought to the hospital by his mother after spending several days with his father, a police news release said. The boy had bruising and marks over a large portion of his lower body and a bruise above his right eye.

VA Beach Schools offer money to kids to pass; I rant

An article in today's Virginian Pilot caught my eye with it's headline.

Program in Va. Beach schools awards cash for grades

VIRGINIA BEACH
Students at two Beach high schools can take home hundreds of dollars this school year for earning passing marks on Advanced Placement tests. Their teachers will be rewarded, too.
The cash incentives at Salem and Green Run high schools are part of the Initiative for Military Families, a Navy-backed public-private partnership aimed at boosting student achievement in military-rich communities.

Has our education system really gotten so bad that schools are now offering what amounts to bribes for students to pass?  If that's the case, it means our schools are due for some long overdue reform.

"Irreconciliable Differences"? Sounds like a cop-out...

The celebrity gossip tabloids are now a-fire that Kim Kardashian (who's only famous for making a pornographic tape with her boyfriend, speaking volumes about our "culture") is ending her marriage after just 72 days due to "irreconciliable differences".

Where have I heard that term before?  Oh right, it came about as a result of the sudden allowance of no-fault divorce in our country.  It's an easy excuse to end a marriage when you decide you don't want to be married anymore.

I won't suggest that that's the reason Kim is ending her marriage, but isn't it just a little too convenient?  Just say "irreconcilable differences lol" and end your marriage in a cheap and easy way.  It speaks volumes about how we've come to view the institution of marriage now.  It's fast becoming seen as just a piece of paper, rather than a promise and a commitment, and it's making it easy for those wanting to change it's definition to ramble on and turn us away from God's true marriage.

It's an attitude it's incumbent upon Christians and all people of good faith in this country to fight and turn back.  It will go a long way toward saving our culture from those who seek to debase it.

Chutzpah: Trial lawyer wants crosses removed from CUA rooms because they violate the "human rights" of Muslims

This latest assault on the religious rights and freedoms of Catholics comes to us from John Banzhaf, a George Washington University law professor perhaps best known for his idiotic advocacy of litigation against food companies for causing childhood obesity.  Now, the man has filed a 60-page complaint against the Catholic University of America (CUA) with the Washington, D.C. Human Rights Office.  The reason?  As he says, crosses, crucifixes and other Catholic symbols display "malice" toward Muslims students wishing to perform their prayers.

Malice?  A CATHOLIC university displaying it's CATHOLIC identity is now malicious?  Displaying the crucifix is now a human rights violation?  I must have missed that lesson when I was in school.

If my knowledge of Muslim prayers is correct, one does not need to even be in a room to say them.  I've heard of Muslims performing their prayers in the middle of airports, for crying out loud.  You cannot tell me that Muslim students at CUA can't, say, go outside to pray.  The whole thing stinks to high heaven.  It sounds to me to be an irreligious lawyer going on a crusade against a religious school to strip it of its religious identity.

And likewise, given the way Islamic religious texts speak of non-Muslims, if any Muslim students are involved in this, I can't help but wonder if religious hatred of Christians and a desire to remove anything relating to the  infidel play a role here.

Duly, the government is now investigating this frivolous and frankly frightening complaint.  Given the cavalier attitude that has been displayed by our government in the area of religious freedom in recent times gives me pause as to the outcome of this.  If the government rules against CUA, it will be another massive blow to the religious freedoms of Catholics in America, and will have a chilling effect on the rights of Christians across the board.

I pray to our Almighty Father that cooler heads prevail and this horrid lawsuit is thrown out of court as the baseless piece of trash that it is.

Life News: Pepsi Shareholders Demand It Stop Using Aborted Fetal Cells

A truly disturbing article.

Pepsi shareholders have filed a shareholder resolution with the Securities and Exchange Commission and PepsiCo demanding that the company has been contracting with a research firm that uses fetal cells from babies victimized by abortions to test and produce artificial flavor enhancers.
As recently as May, Pepsi ignored concerns and criticism from dozens of pro-life groups and tens of thousands of pro-life people who voiced their opposition to PepsiCo contracting with biotech company Senomyx even after it was found to be testing their food additives using fetal cells from abortions.

Might as well rename the company Soylent Green... er, Cola.  Boycott Pepsi.

Liberal Dictionary: Racism

Racism (n.) - Any and all criticism directed at someone who happens to be of a "minority" race by a non-minority; it could be a criticism of the policies, ideas, conduct, or anything, but it all means that the person doing the criticizing is a closet Klansman who forgot his hood and sheet at home.

Liberal Dictionary: "Extreme Right"

Extreme Right (n.) - Anyone even a smidgin to the right-of-center; could be a Republican who donates a substantial amount of money to a candidate he supports, or a ordinary citizen who either sympathizes with or participates with the Tea Party, or a conservative politician who voices support for a policy that liberals do not like; either way, such a person is to be immediately marginalized, attacked, and made out to hate the poor, hate the middle class, hate homosexuals, hate women, be racist, accused of being in the pocket of big corporations (the Koch brothers especially), compared to Adolf Hitler, and in general be made to look as bad as possible so people won't pay attention to anything he has to say.

Cardinal Newman Society: Atheist Club Denied Status at Notre Dame, Tries Again

LINK
A group of students attempting to create an “Atheist, Agnostic and Questioning Students Club” on the campus of Notre Dame University was denied official status by the Student Activities Office last year but is now attempting once again to be recognized by the university, according to the ND Observer. And they may be making headway.
For a club to become recognized it requires approval from the department that the club falls under. Last year, the group failed to receive approval from the department of Campus Ministry but this year the group has received approval from the Philosophy Department and is currently awaiting SAO review.
Last year, the SAO rejected the club’s request saying, “A club’s purpose ‘must be consistent with the University’s mission…No organization, or member of any organization on behalf of the organization, may encourage or participate in any activity which contravenes the mission of the University or the moral teaching of the Catholic Church.”
About time ND did something right.  Good show!

LSN: Couple who would have aborted disabled son awarded $4.5 million for ‘wrongful birth’

If this one doesn't shock and horrify you, I don't know what will.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL, September 19, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A jury has awarded the West Palm Beach parents of a child born with no arms and one leg $.4.5 million. The couple claimed that had they known of their unborn son’s disabilities before he was born, they would have aborted him.
“I have no words,” an overjoyed Mejia said in her native Spanish. She and her husband said that the award would make a huge difference in their son Bryan’s life.
The jury of four men and two women found Palm Beach Gardens obstetrician Dr. Marie Morel and an ultrasound technician 85% and 15% negligent, respectively, for failing to properly read sonograms. The amount they awarded is half the $9 million Ana Mejia and Rodolfo Santana were seeking.

LSN - ‘Sex box’ for Swiss kindergarteners has genitalia toys: will teach sexuality is pleasurable

From Life Site News comes this truly horrific story.

BASEL, August 25, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Kindergarten children in Basel, Switzerland will be presented this year with fabric models of human genitalia in a “sex box” to teach them that “contacting body parts can be pleasurable.”

The kit for teachers to give sex-education lessons to primary school children uses models and recommends having children massage each other or to rub themselves with warm sand bags, accompanied by soft music, according to The Local, a Swiss newspaper in English.

“Children should be encouraged to develop and experience their sexuality in a pleasurable way,” Daniel Schneider, a deputy kindergarten rector for Basel who helped develop the sex ed curriculum along with experts, had said earlier this year.

To kindergartners.  To KINDERGARTNERS!

They want to teach KINDERGARTNERS TO MASTURBATE!

This is the end result of the push for "sex education" on our children.  Teachers teaching children how to masturbate and to have sex...

I'm utterly sickened.  I can't even muster anything to really say about this horrible story.  And this is the route Obama and his ilk want to take us down.

Pay attention Christians, this is what will happen if you are not vigilant.  We must fight back against this culture of corruption that is poisoning our children.  Smash the Kinsey legacy!

LSN: Obama admin website: infants and children are ‘sexual beings’

Via LSN:

WARNING: disturbing content.

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 24, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Borrowing Planned Parenthood’s talking points almost verbatim, the Obama administration is now encouraging parents to begin thinking about their children, and even babies, as “sexual beings” who should be allowed to sexually stimulate themselves from infancy.

“Children are human beings and therefore sexual beings,” says a Q&A about sex directly linked to by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).  “It’s hard for parents to acknowledge this, just as it’s hard for kids to think of their parents as sexually active. But even infants have curiosity about their own bodies, which is healthy and normal.”

The page was reported by NewsBusters before it was picked up by Fox News on Tuesday.

The talking points on the page closely reflect the counseling on a parenting page by Planned Parenthood, the nation’s top contraception and sex education lobby, where readers are told they “need to give babies a sense of themselves, their sexuality, and their bodies from birth.”

Sounds like a page taken from the "research" of Dr. Kinsey or something ripped from the pages of a NAMBLA publication, and not anything you would expect to find on an official government website.

Then again, this is Obama administration we're talking.  This man and his cabinet of fools have taken progressive lunacy and thrown into the center of American life.

The idea that infants and children are "sexual beings" is ludicrous.  Infants touch themselves, yes, but for sexual pleasure?  You've got to be joking.  Are they "born gourmets" because they put things in their mouths?  I don't think so.  This argument is something that was peddled by Dr. Kinsey in his infamous "research" (which, by the way, used information gathered from pedophiles who raped innocent children in the name of science, with the knowledge and encouragement of Kinsey), and was later taken up by the pro-pedophilia movement started by groups like NAMBLA (read one of their publications and the information on the DHHS website and you'll find the same vile talking points).

The whole thing shows just how far we as a society have fallen, and why we need, as a society, to turn back to God and acknowledge Christ as King, all of us, if we're ever to fix the damage wrought by the "progressives".

Lord, have mercy on us all!

WOC throws a nutty over female altar servers

Father Z's blog at wdtprs.com brings us this latest hissy fit from the dissenters at Women's Ordination Conference, this time over the decision of the Phoenix diocese to only allow male altar servers at it's cathedral.

Father Z's commentary is preserved because, frankly, it's hilarious.

Women’s Ordination Conference [WOC!] Decries Ban on Altar Girls in Phoenix Diocese
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 22, 2011
Contact: Erin Saiz Hanna, 202 675-1006, woc@womensordination.org
Women’s Ordination Conference Decries [A high dudgeon word if ever there was one.] Ban on Altar Girls in Pheonix Diocese [No... really.  Pheonix, who was, I believe both one of their large puppets as well as a character with mottled skin in a Star Trek series.]
WASHINGTON, DC – August 22, 2011 – Girls will no longer be allowed to serve as altar servers during Mass at the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix, SS. Simon and Jude. In response, Women’s Ordination Conference has issued an action alert [aaahWOOOOgah!] calling on the Diocese to immediately reinstate female altar servers in that parish.  [More on this, below.]
“If young women in the Phoenix diocese want to grow up to work for the Church – or even aspire to the priesthood [not gonna happen] – I, and the vast majority of U.S. Catholics, don’t see the harm in that, said Erin Saiz Hanna, executive director of the Women’s Ordination Conference. [Because in the Catholic Church doctrine is determined by the number of people who believe something.] “Around the country, young women have been lawfully serving at the altar for well over a decade.” [More on this below.]
Reportedly, Rev. Lankeit banned girls from the altar because he wants only boys to prepare for priesthood in this way. [Hold on there.  That is an assumption.  Are they working from the newspaper article or did anyone from COW call the rector of the cathedral and ask him?  It could be that he is also trying to follow what the Holy See said was the "preferable" practice.  It is still permitted to obey Rome, no?] Since 1994, the Vatican and the U.S. Bishops have allowed female altar servers. There is no restriction in Canon Law for women to help at the altar during the liturgy.  [And there is no right, either.  There is, however, a tradition and clearly expressed preference in the Holy See's documents on the matter.]
“This is not only disgraceful, it is impractical. Women comprise at least 80 per cent of church lay ministers, and they are backbone of most parishes around the world,” continued Hanna. [Oh my!  What is WOC going to do about the manifest discrimination against men filling these roles?  JUSTICE! we must cry, JUSTICE!]
“The Vatican’s stance on the ordination of women is based on arguments that have been refuted time and again. [Refuted?  Because WOC says so?  Pfffft.] In 1976, the Vatican’s own Pontifical Biblical Commission determined that there is no scriptural reason to prohibit women’s ordination.  [And there is no scriptural prohibition against slavery either.  We can, in WOC-logic both ordain women and also enslave them.] Jesus included women as full and equal partners in his ministry, [ROLF! One of the dumbest things I have read in a looooong time.  Hanna, read this carefully.  NOBODY was Jesus "full and equal partner in His ministry".  Jesus was Master and Lord.  The greatest man born of women, John the Baptist, said he wasn't worthy to untie the Lord's sandal.  The Mother of God said to listen to and obey her Son.  The Apostles themselves had a hierarchy within their ranks and they only did what they did in Jesus' Name.  Priests today are partners and collaborators with the bishops, but they are not exactly "full and equal" partners of the bishops.  They have different roles.] and the hierarchy would do well to follow suit,” Hanna concluded.

So let's recap; the WOC, who are already bad enough for advocating the impossible (women's "ordination") and conducting fake ordinations of wymyn in defiance of Church authority, presume to lecture the Phoenix diocese on what to do with it's cathedral church.  They ignore that it has been a long-standing tradition of using only males for altar servers, instead screaming "SEXISM!  *sad face*.

Someone needs to remind these women what it really means to be Catholic.  That means you are obedient to the Church in all matters of doctrine (including on the matter of women's ordination, as it is doctrine, not discipline, that women may not be ordained to the priesthood, not now, not ever), and you don't presume to lecture the bishop on every single matter just because you feel you can.

Readers, please offer prayers for these women.

LSN: Florida High School removes teacher for criticizing gay "marriage"

LINK

MOUNT DORA, FL, August 18, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Mount Dora High School has removed a veteran social-studies teacher Gerald (Jerry) Buell from his classroom for Facebook comments critical of homosexual ‘marriage’. Christopher Patton, Communications Officer for Lake County Schools told LifeSiteNews that Buell was moved to administrative duties pending the results of an investigation into a suspected code of ethics violation.

On his personal Facebook account, outside of school time, Buell posted a reaction to New York’s passage of homosexual ‘marriage’ saying he “almost threw up.” He also referred to homosexual unions as sinful and referred to it as part of a “cesspool” of behaviors in remarks quoted by the Sentinel.

Harsh words certainly, but it speaks volumes about the direction that this country is heading when a school can fire a teacher for a personal opinion delivered over his private Facebook profile.  Is there any doubt that there is persecution of those who speak the truth going on in this country?  I think not.

Lord Jesus, have mercy on us all!

Bishop Aquila on Pro-Abort Pols

This is what Bishop Samuel Aquila had to say about unrepentant pro-abortion Catholic politicians.

From LSN:

US Bishop on unrepentant pro-abort pols: ‘Treat them as a tax collector or Gentile. Expel him.’
BY CHRISTINE DHANAGOM
Thu Aug 11, 2011 15:15 ESTComments (2)

FARGO, North Dakota, August 11, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Church should seek the conversion of pro-abortion politicians, but if they remain obstinate they should be expelled from the Church, says Bishop Samuel Aquila of Fargo.

The Bishop proposed in an interview with Catholic World Report this week that Bishops should take their cue from the Gospel of Matthew in handling pro-abortion politicians.

“Our Lord tells us to speak to the person, and then take two or three others with us if he does not change,” he said. “If he still does not change, the Church can speak to him, which is done through the bishop. [The bishop] exercises the authority of Christ. Christ then says that if that person is still obstinate and will not change, treat them as a tax collector or Gentile. Expel him.’”

The Bishop continued: “Catholics are called to defend human life, particularly that of the unborn. The Church’s teaching is clear. If we don’t challenge public officials who reject this teaching, we leave them in their sins and confuse the faithful.”

A huge CIVB kudos to Bishop Aquila!

Aquila, who has been the spiritual head of the diocese of Fargo in North Dakota for ten years, is well known for his support for the pro-life cause.

A 10-year-old GLAMOR MODEL!?

From the truly despicable minds at Vogue magazine comes this atrocity

Thylane Lena-Rose Blondeau is 10, but an issue of French Vogue, in which she wears heavy makeup, stilettos and a come-hither look has stirred up an adult-sized controversy.

The images of Thylane, which appeared in the magazine's December/January issue but were brought back into the spotlight in a "Good Morning America" segment on Thursday, are firing arguments about the sexualization of young girls. Some see it as part of an overall recent trend toward younger models. (Although one might argue that it is hard for a young girl to get a break, given all the fortysomething movie stars hogging covers nowadays.)

Let's see; a pre-pubescent girl dolled up to look like an adult supermodel and photographed in sexually suggestive poses and images.  Sounds less like something you'd find in a major magazine and more like something you'd find hidden deep inside the hard drive of a sex offender's computer.

It always amazes me that the same culture that rightly lambastes those who molest children, when something like this appears, has people leaping to it's defense.  Come one!  This is little more than legal child pornography!  This is the stuff that fuels pedophiles and contributes to sexual immorality amongst the youth and adults.  It's time for people of faith to oppose this sewage, pronto!

Pax Christi.

LSN: Norway shooter supported abortion for disabled babies

LINK

While the mainstream media attempts to paint Anders Behring Breivik, the terrorist bomber and shooter who killed over 76 people in Oslo last week, as a “fundamentalist Christian,” a 1,500 page document he wrote reveals not only that he did not consider himself a Christian believer, but that he was a mason, held such anti-Christian views as supporting abortion for disabled babies, and that he also hired a prostitute prior to his killing rampage.

The horrific death toll and monstrous methods employed by Breivik in his killing spree have been followed by outrageous attempts to paint him as a conservative Christian, a characterization that has the potential to lead to a backlash against faithful Christians in Europe and elsewhere.

Some Christian.  He obviously wasn't if he held such odious views.  But, I'm not holding my breath that any of the mainstream media outlets are going to get this one right.

So-called "New Atheists" motivated by hatred of God

Yes, you heard that right.

I'm going to keep this post simple; the so-called "New Atheist" movement (though there really isn't anything new about it) taps into not just doubts about the existence of God (who is real, praise be to Him) but by outright hatred.  How do I know this?  Read on.

I received a message from my girlfriend that her friend was distressed because she saw a stamp accusing God of being a child murderer and calling Him an "immoral monster" who should "burn in his own hell".  It pains me to put such blasphemous bile on my blog, but I must to illustrate the point.

Does that sound like reason to you?  No, it sounds more like a person who hates someone.  In this case, the person, I can only deduce, hates God.  Such a view is becoming so common amongst non-believers, I daresay that it is their creed, alongside such reliable standbys as religious believers as stupid, violent robots and the world being better off without faith.

Why do I draw attention to this?  Because, forgive me my melodrama, but when the Nazis spread filth about the Jews, everyone was told to ignore it.  We all know how well that turned out.  I don't suggest something similar will happen, but when hate rears it's ugly head, it must be identified and opposed.  We are all worse off if we don't.

Heavenly Father, soften the hearts of those who hate You and Your Son and all who follow You, and grant them peace and guide them along the path to truth and salvation.

CIVB to the NFLPA and team owners: SHUT UP AND PLAY FOOTBALL!!!

Day in and day out for the past month I've heard no new football news other than the never ending "labor talks" between the NFLPA (aka the most pointless union ever formed) and team owners.  I've had to listen about the players whining that they're not making enough money besides having multimillion dollar contracts, and the owners calling a completely pointless lockout over something that should have been solved in an afternoon (other than no guaranteed contracts for rookies there's nothing wrong with the NFL).

I'm finally sick of it all.  The players need to sign the new CBA and get back to playing football or I'm not going to bother watching at all.  My mother just finally got to see her dream and got tickets to a Patriots game against the Redskins.  I want my mom to see that game.

Plus, the greed is astounding to me.  What, the millions the players make a season aren't enough?  You want more?  What's it gonna be, contracts worth billions of dollars?  I can honestly foresee that happening someday, what with what the players are being paid now.  Most of us fans can see through the dog-and-pony show that the owners and players are putting on.  It's all about making money and nothing else.  I'm sick of it.  The fans who scrimp and save every season to go to one game a year deserve better than this garbage.

If nothing comes of this, if the players refuse the new deal, I will not watch a single football game this season.  I mean not even one.  Not even when my Patriots are playing.  If the season is cancelled, I'm done with football forever.

What's it gonna be guys?  You gonna play or what?  Cuz I'm done with you.
